IT Connectivity

Update: NHS Borders now connected, therefore all boards are able to send exams to SNRRS Bank. Completion of IT connectivity project.

Aim

The IT Connectivity project’s aim is to deliver a National Cross Boundary Reporting system that allows staff situated anywhere in Scotland to report on an image captured in any NHS Board.

Objectives

  • To automatically and manually assign studies for clinical reporting anywhere in Scotland.
  • To provide the user “front end” functionality to perform those functions on shared workload, using the existing PACS Global Worklist view as the source of all clinical imaging.
  • To draw all relevant information from the local Radiology Information Systems (RIS) so that users performing shared work have access to the same quality and quantity of information as they would if they were undertaking that work locally.
  • To underpin future regional and national networks, which will be required for specialism areas and to support rural Boards.

How

In conjunction with the supplier – Soliton, configure the National reporting solution – Share+, to ensure that it meets the needs of the service.

Engage with the various RIS suppliers to define the technical specifications of the RIS to Share+ interfaces, thus supporting the needs of a national reporting model and ensuring that the appropriate clinical, technical, financial and legal governance is followed in the process.

Work with the local NHS Boards and suppliers to install interfaces between each local RIS and Soliton Share+, thus allowing examinations to be sent to the National reporting solution for reporting and the resulting reports to be returned to the local NHS Board RIS.

Develop a robust testing process and documentation to ensure that all interfaces are tested to a high standard and that a transparent sign-off process exists between all parties involved in testing.

Who

The project includes collaborative working with a variety of suppliers and all 15 NHS Boards to ensure delivery of these interfaces.

The project team managing the delivery of the IT Connectivity project includes:
