The Transformation Journey

SRTP has begun transforming radiology services

SRTP Phase One laid the foundations to support the delivery of the vision for Radiology in Scotland with the introduction of IT connectivity across radiology in Scotland and the sharing of national radiology data through the National Radiology Dashboards.

Phase Two of the programme is building on this with the Vision and Target Operating Model and the introduction of a national Reporting Bank, a Clinical Decision Support pilot and a structured nationally co-ordinated approach to the introduction of Artificial Intelligence.

Work on national coordination is being expedited

The COVID-19 outbreak highlighted the importance of a resilient and sustainable radiology service for Scotland and, in August 2020, NHS Board Chief Executives approved further work to develop a shared vision and target operating model (TOM), looking at both national and regional approaches that will maximise benefits across the patient journey as a whole.

As well as those involved in the delivery of imaging in Scotland, we have also worked with patients and referrers to understand what good looks like for them. We want to ensure that the future operating model for radiology is owned by the Service and focused on the needs of its customers.
